Fairfax County

The following incidents were reported by the Animal Control Division of the Fairfax County Police Department. For information, call 703-246-2253.

Bit and run: Tryton Way, 12100 block, 7 a.m. April 23. A stray cat walked into a home and bit a man, then ran away. The man is being treated for rabies as a precaution.

Stray bites woman: Wood Oak Dr., 2200 block, 4:50 p.m. April 23. A woman found a kitten, which bit her. The white, gray and orange cat was quarantined.

Dog bites man: Saffold Way, 11000 block, 4:15 p.m. April 20. A 9-month-old husky got away from his owner and bit a man, who received minor injuries. The dog’s owner, a 48-year-old Reston man, was charged with no dog license. The dog was placed under quarantine.

Owners charged: Brockham Dr., 8300 block, 10:55 a.m. April 19. Five cats and four turtles were seized and taken to a veterinarian. A 57-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman were charged with failure to provide adequate care and unfit owner.

Fairfax City

Dogs kill coon: Oak Pl. 10500 block, April 25. Two dogs killed a raccoon, which tested positive for rabies. The dogs will be given rabies booster shots and were placed under quarantine for 45 days.

Squirrel saved: Main St., 9600 block, April 24. A squirrel fell into a deep window well. It was captured and released.

Beagle bites owner: Assembly Dr., 10500 block, April 20. A beagle bit its owner when he reached for the dog and startled it. The dog has a current rabies vaccination and was placed under observation for 10 days.

Dog fights a fox: Hillcrest Dr. SW, 600 block, 7 p.m. April 21. A dog got into a fight with a fox. Animal control took the fox to the Fairfax County animal shelter for rabies testing.

Dog on the run: Moore Ave. SE, 200 block, 5:09 a.m. April 23. A small white dog, which appeared to be injured, was found running in the area. It was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment and then the Fairfax County animal shelter.

Dog fights with a coon: Park St. SE, 100 block, 6 p.m. April 25. A man took his dog to a veterinary clinic for a rabies booster shot, after it fought with and killed a raccoon. The dead raccoon was taken to the Fairfax County animal shelter for rabies testing.
