Fairfax County

The following incidents were reported by the Animal Control Division of the Fairfax County Police Department. For information, call 703-246-2253.

Dog left in vehicle: Monument Corner Dr., 4100 block, 1:55 p.m. June 22. A miniature poodle was left unattended in a vehicle. The dog was not injured. A 43-year-old Centreville man was charged with inadequate care of an animal.

Puppies stolen: Golf Ridge Ct., 12000 block, 8:20 p.m. June 21. Three puppies were stolen from a residence, which was entered through a window.

Dog bites pedestrian: Gormel Dr., 7200 block, 3 p.m. June 23. A beagle-mix dog bit a 65-year-old male pedestrian; minor injuries were reported. The dog was placed under quarantine.

Taking a bat-nap: Maple St., 4000 block, June 26. A 21-year-old man awoke to find a bat resting on his pillow. The bat was captured and tested negative for rabies.


The following incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Fox extremely ill: Windover Ct. NW, 400 block, 7:45 a.m. June 21. Animal control was called about a sick fox. It was determined that the fox could not be saved.

Dog attacks, injures another dog: Victoria Ct. NW, 400 block, 8 p.m. June 21. A dog ran from between two houses and lunged at a dog being walked by a woman. It bit the dog on the rear hip, causing a puncture wound. The injured dog was treated at a veterinary clinic. Both dogs were placed under quarantine.
