Dog locked in car: Old Lee Hwy., 3100 block, Sept. 20. Animal control, responding to a report of a dog locked inside a car, found the car in a shaded area. The dog’s owner was issued a warning.
Day-care fight: Pickett Rd., 3800 block, Sept 24. A boxer mix bit an employee at a dog day-care facility when the employee attempted to break up a fight between the boxer mix and another dog. The boxer mix had a current rabies vaccination and was quarantined for 10 days.
Escaped dog: Jermantown Rd., 3900 block, Sept. 24. A shepherd mix was found loose in a park. The dog was taken to the city’s shelter, where the owner claimed it that day.
Loose dog: Maple St. and Lamarre Dr., Sept. 13. A Siberian husky was found running loose and was taken to the city’s shelter, where it was claimed that day.
Sick raccoon: Cover Pl., 10000 block, Sept. 24. Someone reported a sick raccoon in his yard. The raccoon was taken to the city’s shelter, where it was euthanized. There was no known exposure.
Dog bites owner: Hillcrest Dr. SW, 600 block, 8 a.m. Sept. 19 to 8 a.m. Sept. 23. A dog bit its owner on the arm when she attempted to separate it from a friend’s dog while they were playing. The dog was quarantined for 10 days.
Dog at large: Center St. S., 200 block, 10 a.m. Sept. 23. Someone found a dog running at large and took it to police. After several attempts to contact the owner, the dog was taken to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
