Dog thrown from vehicle: Sully Rd. and Dulles Toll Rd., 10 a.m. Oct. 12. An animal control officer, responding to a report of a dog being thrown from a moving vehicle, took custody of a Chihuahua mix and took it to a veterinary clinic.
Dog bites teen: Roberts Rd., 4100 block, Oct. 15. A pit bull bit a teenager. The dog had a current rabies vaccination and was quarantined at home for 10 days.
Cat abducted: Lamarre Dr., 4200 block, Oct. 15. A group of women took a one-eyed cat from a neighbor’s yard because they thought it was neglected. The cat’s owner confronted them before they took the cat to the city’s shelter, but they refused to give the cat back. The cat’s fur was matted, and it was otherwise healthy. The owner took the cat home. Charges are pending against the women who took the cat.
Dog bites man: Pickett Rd., 3800 block. A dog bit an employee at a pet care facility when he attempted to grab the dog from behind as it was running. The dog had a current rabies vaccination and was quarantined at home for 10 days.
Bird flies into home: Bolton Village Dr., 9300 block, Oct. 16. A Carolina wren flew through an open door of a home and into a bathroom. Animal control captured the bird and released it outside.
Deer struck: Maple Ave. E., 1000 block, 7:53 p.m. Oct. 15. A deer ran in front of a vehicle and was fatally injured.
Fox euthanized: Westbriar Dr. NE, 1100 block, 5 p.m. Oct. 16. A woman reported that a fox in her backyard appeared to be injured. The fox could not be saved.
