Great Dane innocent of allegations: Estel Road and Lyndhurst Drive, March 14. Responding to a report about a Great Dane that was running loose — and may have knocked down a person and attacked another dog — animal control officers discovered that an owner was able to catch the dog but none of the reports were true.

Dog reunited with owner: Second St., 10800 block, March 14. A beagle was found running loose and taken to the shelter.


The following incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Delirious cat dies: Park St. SE, 100 block, 10:40 a.m. March 16. A hospital staff member was bitten by a cat while attempting to perform a medical procedure to save it. The cat’s body was taken the shelter for rabies testing.

Dog held as a stray: Woodland Ct. NW, 500 block, 2:02 p.m. March 16. An animal control officer picked up a dog that was wandering in a neighborhood and took it to the shelter.

Rabies information sought: W&OD and Maple Ave. NE, 7:50 p.m. March 19. A woman walking her dog reported that a bulldog broke free from a leash and bit her dog on the leg. The bulldog’s owner refused to provide his information but gave the dog’s name and animal hospital where it receives treatment. The woman also sustained an injury to the hand while she was separating the two dogs and received treatment.

Searching for dog’s owner: Stephen Cir. SW, 500 block, 11:55 a.m. March 20. An animal control officer caught a dog running loose and took it to the shelter where it will be held until an owner is located.
