Fox dies: Tucker Ave., 6400 block, 9:25 a.m. June 16. Animal control collected a dead fox that tested positive for rabies. A dog that was exposed to the dead animal was quarantined.

Startled kitten bites: Brookwood Dr., 3400 block, June 22. A woman fostering two kittens for a rescue group was bitten by one of them. The kitten was quarantined.

Playful bite: Main St., 9400 block, June 27. A 21-year-old man was bitten while playing with a beagle puppy at a pet store. The dog was quarantined.

Move to a home environment: Orchard Dr., 4100 block, June 24. An animal control officer responded to a complaint of a rooster living in a residence and spoke to the owner, who decided to surrender the animal. The rooster will be transferred to a rescue facility.

Bird feels at home: John Marshall Dr. NE, 400 block, 4:53 p.m. June 22. An animal control officer captured a woodpecker inside a bedroom and released it outdoors.

Runners caught: Valley Dr. SE, 500 block, 11 a.m. June 25. Animal control captured two yellow Labrador mixes running loose and took them to the shelter where they were to be claimed by an owner.
