FAIRFAX CITY

The following incidents were reported by the animal control section of the Fairfax City Police Department. For information, call 703-385-7924 or go to fairfaxva.gov and click “Animal Control” on the department’s main page.

Runaway caught: Hallman and Crest streets, Sept. 6. An officer captured a Great Pyrenees running loose and took the dog to the shelter. The animal was claimed by its owner the next day.

Inconspicuous abode: Stratford Ave., 10200 block, Sept. 6. Responding to a complaint about a dog being left outside in the rain without shelter, an officer found the animal had adequate shelter available.

Dog on the run: Main St. and Roberts Rd., Sept. 7. Police officers found a mastiff mix running loose and took the animal to the shelter. An owner, who was found through a microchip, claimed the dog in the morning.

VIENNA

The following incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Owner sought: Kingsley Rd. SW, 100 block, 3:30 to 3:47 p.m. Sept. 4. An officer picked up a golden retriever from a residence and made attempts to find its owner. The dog was taken to the shelter.

Recovery expected: Maple Ave. and Glyndon St. SE, 11:36 p.m. Sept. 7. An officer picked up an injured cat that was found lying in an intersection. The cat was taken to a veterinary center for treatment.
