Washington has had several foggy days this winter, but Saturday morning conditions appeared to be near the foggiest.

At Reagan National Airport visibility at 3 a.m. was reported to be .06 miles. That is about 100 yards.

At Dulles International Airport conditions were only a little better. At 3 a.m. visibility was reported to be 3/4 of a mile. At 2 a.m. it was a half mile. It had also been that low at 10 p.m. on Saturday.

It was enough to prompt a search for the “little cat feet,” on which, according to a poem published in 1916,“the fog comes on.”
