Frederick man killed in hit-and-run collision

A 32-year-old Frederick man was killed in a hit-and-run collision in the city late Wednesday night, authorities said.

Levon Duvall Hallenbeck was walking along northbound Buckeystown Pike, north of Grove Road, when he was struck by a vehicle around 11:30 p.m., according to a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office news release. The vehicle — possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, according to the news release — fled the scene.

A second vehicle struck Hallenbeck when he was lying on the road after the initial collision, the release said. That driver stayed at the scene.

Hallenbeck was pronounced dead at the site of the collision. Authorities are still looking for the first striking vehicle. They asked members of the public with information on the accident or the vehicle to call Cpl. Paul Colantuno at 301-600-3908.
