Two homeless men sleeping outside Arlington Central Library were attacked with a machete early Monday by a man who police said was also homeless and had been arguing with the victims.

The two victims, 26-year-old twins, were hospitalized with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, with lacerations on their torsos and faces, police said.

Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said the three men engaged in a dispute about 3 a.m. Monday that escalated into a fight.

Police arrested Derrick Sutherland, 28, Monday afternoon and charged him with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding.
