A 46-year-old inmate at the Fairfax Adult Detention Center died Friday night, after being found unresponsive.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical emergency reported at 7:29 p.m. in a general holding block at the center. Along with medical staff, they began life-saving measures on the man, who is not being identified at this time, and called for help, according to the Fairfax County sheriff’s office.

The man was then transported to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later.

Fairfax police are currently investigating his death. This is at least the third in-custody death at the detention center this year.
