Teen is shot outside Southeast apartment

A 17-year-old youth was shot outside a Southeast Washington apartment building overnight, D.C. police said Sunday.

The police said the shooting occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 5300 block of Bass Place SE. The teen told the police that he saw a gold-colored sedan driving up when gunfire rang out, and he ran into the apartment building, according to a D.C. police incident report.

Officers entered an apartment to find the teenager, who was not identified, with two gunshot wounds to the chest. He was conscious when found and was taken to a hospital.

Woman shot; two vehicles also struck

A woman was shot multiple times in front of an Anacostia home Sunday morning, the D.C. police said.

In addition, the police said that two vehicles were damaged in the spray of gunfire, which occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. in front of a residence in the 1600 block of Butler Street SE.

According to a police incident report, authorities found the woman with gunshot wounds, and she was taken to a hospital.

The two vehicles, a Ford Explorer and a Honda, were seized as part of the investigation. Police recovered a handgun from the scene, according to the report.

Two bodies found after boat overturns

Authorities found the bodies of two men Sunday after their boat overturned in the Potomac River in Charles County.

Officials received a call just after noon that a 15-foot bass boat had capsized near the mouth of Mattawoman Creek, said Candy Thomson, a spokeswoman for the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

Witnesses saw two men in the water near the boat. The boat was recovered, but officials couldn’t immediately find the men. Shortly after 4 p.m., they said they had recovered one body. The second body was found about two hours later.

Man, 21, is fatally injured in collision

A man was fatally injured Friday when his motorcycle and a car collided in Montgomery County, the county police said.

The man was identified as James Christopher Davern, 21, of Silverdale Drive in Silver Spring.

Police said he was riding his motorcycle west on Veirs Mill Road near Rockville about 10:45 a.m. when a motorist driving east on Veirs Mill tried to turn left onto Robindale Drive. The collision occurred at the intersection, the police said.

They said Davern was taken to a hospital, where he died Friday.
