Shooting leaves one dead, one wounded

A 23-year-old man was shot to death Saturday night and a juvenile male shot and wounded in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, D.C. police said Sunday.

The slain man was identified Sunday afternoon as Antonio Jerome Williams of Northwest Washington. The wounded youth, whose name and age were not released, was said to be in stable condition at a hospital.

Officer Paul Metcalf said the shootings occurred about midnight in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW.

Police identify man who was fatally shot

D.C. police identified a man slain early Saturday in Congress Heights as Jason Alexander Murphy.

Murphy, 30, of New Carrollton was shot about 2:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Savannah Street SE.

Police boat strikes docked vessels

A D.C. police boat struck at least two vessels on the Potomac River near Georgetown, causing one smaller boat to partially sink.

Witnesses say a harbor patrol boat was making a U-turn Saturday about 7 p.m. when it struck at least two boats docked at the Georgetown waterfront. No one was hurt in the crash.

One boat was flipped on its side and was left partially underwater along the waterfront overnight.

The U.S. Coast Guard and D.C. police responded to the scene and have launched an investigation to determine what caused the crash.

Man killed in crash near reservoir

An Upper Marlboro man was killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on New Hampshire Avenue near the Triadelphia Reservoir in northeastern Montgomery County, police said.

George Anthony Veney, 54, was driving south in a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer when the car veered into the northbound lane near Greenbridge Road, struck a tree and flipped, police said. Officers responded to the scene at 1:48 a.m. Veney was alone in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.

Man found dead on road is identified

A man who apparently was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Clinton early Saturday has been identified as Eric Derron Bridgett, 27, according to Prince George’s County police.

Police said they found the man about 2:30 a.m. at Kirby Road and Marwood Drive, near the Joint Base Andrews military facility. They said a preliminary investigation indicated that he was trying to cross Kirby when he was hit.
