Four people were shot and wounded on a city street early Sunday, police said.
Officer Paul Metcalf, a D.C. police spokesman, said they were shot after an argument about 3 a.m. in the first block of M Street NE.
Two men were arrested, Metcalf said.
All four victims were conscious and breathing when police arrived, he said.

At least one person is dead after a car plunged into the Anacostia River on Sunday morning.
Officer Paul Metcalf, a D.C. police spokesman, said the incident occurred about 7:45 a.m. He said the car went into the water near the John Philip Sousa Bridge, but it was unclear where it had been going and why it went into the river.
A man who was in the car died, Metcalf said. There was no indication of other occupants.

A Leesburg area man was shot to death Saturday afternoon in what the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office described as a domestic dispute.
The 21-year-old man’s name was not released Sunday until relatives could be notified. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Liz Mills said the victim and an adult family member had been in a physical confrontation at a home on Shadow Terrace in the Potomac Station neighborhood.

A 9-year-old boy was grabbed and thrown to the ground Sunday in New Carrollton by a man who tried to sexually assault him, authorities said.
The child broke free and fled. He was not injured in the attack, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road, the New Carrollton police department said. New Carrollton is a city of about 12,000 in central Prince George’s County. The street where the incident occurred is in a largely commercial area.
Police said the suspect was described as a black man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, wearing red shorts and a black shirt that had a cartoon on the front with yellow in it, He had a close-cropped beard that could be described as trimmed stubble.
