Man stabbed to death in Northwest home

A 56-year-old D.C. man was stabbed to death Saturday at a residence in the 400 block of H Street NW, police said.

Gregory Monroe had multiple stab wounds when officers arrived on the scene around 5:45 p.m., D.C. police said. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Police did not say whether there were any suspects in his death.

Arrest in 3 robberies on a single block

A teenager was arrested last week in connection with three separate robberies, all on the same block in Southeast Washington, the D.C. police said.

Two of the robberies, in which a gun was shown, occurred on the same day, only five minutes apart, according to a police statement issued Sunday.

The first of those two occurred about 7:55 p.m. on Oct. 16, the police said. The second, according, to the police, occurred about 8 p.m. In each case, the victims were walking in the 1400 block of Alabama Avenue SE.

The third robbery occurred in that block about 7 p.m. Nov. 8.

In that case, police said, two robbers assaulted the victim and took property, but no gun was reported.

Police said a 14-year-old male who lived in Southeast was arrested Thursday in all of the robberies. They said the last one remained under investigation.

Two men killed in Montgomery crash

Two Silver Spring men died after the car they were traveling in slammed into a utility pole early Sunday in Montgomery County, police said.

Authorities said Leonel Osvaldo Gonzales, 24, was driving a black 2015 Lexus RX 350 SUV when he apparently lost control about 2:30 a.m. on University Boulevard West at Royalton Road in Silver Spring.

Gonzales and his passenger, 28-year-old Hodimyr Gonzalez, died at the scene. Police said speed may have been a factor.

State highway worker struck, killed by car

A 25-year-old contract worker for the Virginia Department of Transportation died Saturday after a car struck him as he set up a mobile work zone on Interstate 95 in Prince George County, south of Richmond, state police said Sunday.

Dustin Michael Warden of Carson was working on the southbound side near Route 602 when he was hit by a 2015 Honda Civic, police said.

The driver, 27-year-old Samantha C. Hughes of Wilmington, N.C., took her eyes off the road and struck him, police said.

Warden died at the scene.

Hughes was charged with reckless driving.
