Man fatally shot in Southeast Washington

A man was shot to death early Saturday two blocks from the Congress Heights Metro station in Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

The shooting occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Savannah St. SE. A D.C. police spokesman said officers responding to emergency calls for gunshots found the victim. He died at an area hospital, the spokesman said.

Police identified the man as Jason Alexander Murphy, 30, of New Carrollton.
