Man is fatally shot in SE D.C.

A man was shot and killed Wednesday night in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.

Police received reports of shots fired and responded to the 4200 block of 4th Street just before 7 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman. Officers found an unconscious man, who was not breathing and suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, Metcalf said.

The man was pronounced dead a short while later. No further details could be immediately learned.
