Man named Honesty arrested for allegedly lying about bomb

Turns out Mr. Honesty may have lied about there being a bomb in the Fairfax County courthouse.

Fairfax County police officers responded to the courthouse in Fairfax City around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday for a reported bomb threat, police said. An investigation led them to 72-year-old Joe Edwin Honesty, who was found inside the courthouse.

The Alexandria man, who had a trial scheduled for driving on a suspended license at 8:30 a.m., was taken into custody and escorted next door to the Fairfax County jail, police said. He was charged with making a bomb threat.

Authorities do not believe there was an explosive device in this case.
