Masked man carjacks D.C. ice cream truck

A masked gunman carjacked an ice cream truck with two people inside about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Anacostia, authorities said.

The truck was seized in the 1400 block of Cedar Street SE, next to the Frederick Douglass Historic Site, and recovered about a block away, according to D.C. police Lt. Raul Figueras. A mobile crime unit is processing the scene.

The carjacker was armed with a handgun, Figueras said. The gunman ordered the two people out of the truck and drove away, leaving them uninjured. Money and cellphones were taken from the truck.
