Del. Aisha N. Braveboy (D-Prince George’s) will pick up an endorsement Friday of her bid to become Maryland’s next attorney general from U.S. Rep. Donna F. Edwards (D-Md.), according to an Edwards aide.

Braveboy is running in a competitve Democratic primary against Del. Jon S. Cardin (D-Baltimore County) and Sen. Brian E. Frosh (D-Montgomery).

Edwards, a Prince George’s resident, will explain her rationale Friday for siding with Braveboy in the June primary, according to the Edwards aide, who requested anonymity to speak more freely about the congresswoman’s plans.

Recent polling in the race has shown Cardin leading his fellow Democrats. Frosh has picked up the lion’s share of endorsements, however, including one this week from Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D).

The candidates are vying to succeed Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler (D), who is runing for governor this year.
