Gansler calls health care ‘a right’ in his latest TV ad for Maryland governor

Maryland Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Douglas F. Gansler is keeping the focus on health care in his latest television ad.

In the 15-second spot, Gansler, Maryland’s attorney general, tells viewers that “health care is a right.”

“As attorney general, I fought insurance companies when they denied coverage to families and children,” Gansler says. “And as governor, I’ll deliver health reform to the people of Maryland, no excuses.”

The latest ad, airing in both the Washington and Baltimore markets, comes amid a continued attack by Gansler’s campaign on the role of his chief rival, Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown (D), in implementing federal health-care reforms in Maryland.

Gansler has repeatedly blamed Brown for glitches in the state’s online health insurance exchange. The new ad makes no direct mention of Brown or that controversy.

The June Democratic primary also includes Del. Heather R. Mizeur (D-Montgomery).
