Del. Aisha N. Braveboy (D-Prince George’s) has picked up the endorsement of a Washington-area building trades labor organization in her bid to become Maryland’s next attorney general.
The 15 affiliate unions of the Washington D.C. Building and Construction Trades Council this week announced its support of Braveboy in a race that also includes Sen. Brian E. Frosh (D-Montgomery) and Del. Jon S. Cardin (D-Baltimore County). The unions represent roofers, plumbers and bricklayers in Maryland, among other trades.
“Aisha has been a reliable fighter for Maryland workers,” Mark Coles, the organization’s executive secretary treasurer said in a statement. “Whether strengthening prevailing wage laws, raising the minimum wage or improving workplace safety, Aisha is someone we can always count on to do the right thing for working families.”
In advance of the June 24 primary, Frosh has picked up the majority of labor union endorsements in the race, including one from the Maryland-D.C. AFL-CIO Council, the umbrella organization for labor in the region.
Braveboy has also been endorsed by the Prince George’s County Firefighters Union, IAFF Local 1619.
