Latest Brown ad in Md. focuses on plans for education and an endorsement from teachers

Maryland gubernatorial hopeful Anthony G. Brown touts his plans for education, as well as an endorsement from the state’s largest teachers lobby, in his latest television ad.

The 30-second spot by Brown, the state’s lieutenant governor, includes quick references to plans he has released to expand pre-kindergarten education, address a racial achievement gap in Maryland schools and expand access to job training at the community college level.

“Maryland has some of the best schools in the country, but we can do better,” Brown says at the outset of the ad, which his campaign says is airing in the Washington media market.

The ad, Brown’s fifth, is the first to include a line telling viewers to “Vote June 24th.” Maryland’s gubernatorial primaries have traditionally been in September, meaning turnout will be key to this year’s races.

Brown faces Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler and Del. Heather R. Mizeur (Montgomery) in the Democratic contest for governor.
