Md. woman found dead, dogs rescued
Several live and dead animals were taken from a home in Bethesda after the elderly woman who lived there was found dead.
Officials were conducting a welfare check on the woman late Tuesday night when they found her body — along with 10 dogs — in the Corsica Drive home.
Some of the dogs were caged while others were loose in the house. Of the 10 dogs, three were dead, police said. The remaining seven were rescued and taken to a veterinarian for care.
The cause of the woman’s death has not been determined, but officials think she died of natural causes. Her name and age have not been released, but she was reportedly elderly.
It is unknown how long the woman’s body was inside the home and how long ago the dogs died.
Police did not have details on the condition of the surviving dogs. They are expected to be put up for adoption once they are deemed healthy.
