Men face drugs charges after Pr. William home invasion

To Prince William County police, the three men were initially victims of a home invasion, ordered to the ground by masked men who had entered their residence through an open window.

Then police searched the place. And as in many home invasions, they found their victims were not exactly innocent.

The home in the 4200 block of Glendale Road in Dale City had marijuana, cocaine and drug packaging materials inside, Prince William County police said. Though investigators believed the residents’ story that the place had been invaded, they still arrested them for drug-related offenses, police said.

Charged were Alexander Omar Jacob, 22; Cleavon Latrell Smith, 32; and Justin Lamar Collins, 22. Jacob and Smith lived at the home; Collins lived in Woodbridge but was there at the time drugs were found, said Officer Michelle Nemerow, a Prince William County police spokeswoman.

Officers were first called to the scene about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired, police said. When they arrived, the homeowner told them two masked men wearing all black came into their home through an unlocked window and ordered everyone to get on the ground. The homeowner told police one of the intruders struck an occupant with a handgun, and one of the intruders fired a shot. No one was hit by the gunfire, and nothing was apparently taken, police said. The intruders were able to get away, police said.

Nemerow said a fired round was found in the house, and investigators believe the men’s story about the intruders. But when they searched the house, they found drugs, Nemerow said. She said investigators believe the intruders likely knew of the house and invaded it in search of those drugs themselves.
