The 5-year-old Great Falls boy who was reported missing last week was spotted in Birmingham, Ala., with his mother, who has been charged with felony parental abduction.

Fairfax County Police said Monday that Cameron Serafin was seen at a Birmingham airport Friday, two days before he was supposed to be returned to his father.

Cameron was accompanied by his mother, 32-year-old Rebecca Serafin, who police said has altered her appearance to avoid being located.

Rebecca Serafin, who also goes by the name Rebecca Love, initially was charged with custodial interference, a misdemeanor. Police said Monday that they now have a warrant charging her with parental abduction, a felony.

Detectives said they are concerned for Cameron Serafin’s welfare and that they are working with law enforcement in other parts of the country to locate the boy. It is unknown where the two are currently.
