Second strike for loose pit bull pair: Briardale Rd., 16700 block, Derwood, Nov. 1. Two pit bulls wandered into a residential yard and attacked a mixed-breed dog. On the way to investigate the incident, an animal services officer saw the two pit bulls being walked by a woman, who said she was the mother of the owner of the female pit bull. The officer impounded the dogs until the daughter retrieved them. The owner was issued a citation for the dogs being loose, a citation for unwanted contact and an order requiring spaying and neutering for the dogs because this was their second impoundment. The owner did not explain how the dogs escaped. The injured mixed-breed dog received veterinary care.
