Dog abuse reported but case dismissed: Montgomery Village, Pier Point Pl., 18600 block, May 1. An anonymous resident reported a neglected dog was kept continuously in a crate and beaten often. An officer met with the dog’s owner, who allowed the investigator to examine the German shepherd mix. Not only was there no sign of bruising, swelling or other injuries consistent with beating, the dog was determined to be in good condition. The owner admitted to crating the dog when company was over but said it was only during that time. With no proof of wrongdoing and no complainant to follow up with, the matter was closed.

8th annual Strut Your Mutt parade: A dog parade and festival will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday with proceeds benefiting the Rotary Foundation. Rabies clinic: Montgomery County Police Department’s Animal Services Division will hold a rabies clinic 10 a.m. to noon Sunday. Clinics will be each month through August. All pets in the county must be vaccinated and licensed. Dog and cat vaccinations are free for residents, but a county pet license must be purchased.
