Cats feared abandoned: Capehart Dr., 19000 block, Montgomery Village, March 29. A resident contacted animal services to report that several cats had possibly been abandoned by their owner. An officer who went to the address and did not get a response posted a notice on the door for the cats’ owner to contact animal services. The cats’ owner said they were temporarily living with and providing care for an ailing relative but returning home daily to look after the animals. The officer verified the cats were in good condition at the home.

Toy poodle perpetually vigilant: Smoketree Rd., 11710 block, Potomac, March 27. A home security company worker was bit on the leg by a dog while in a client’s home. The bite was minor, but the toy poodle mix was placed under a standard 10-day home quarantine. The dog was current on its rabies vaccination.

PAW needs volunteers: The Partnership for Animal Welfare, a nonprofit group of volunteers, facilitates the rescue and adoption of homeless domestic animals, mainly dogs and cats, and places them in loving and stable homes. The Montgomery County Humane Society has moved to a new location, as of Tuesday, and now operates a private rescue and adoption facility at 1300 E.Gude Dr., Rockville. Starting in mid- to late April, cats will be available for adoption at MCHS’s new site.
