The mixed-breed dog’s owner decided not to fill out an affidavit for citations because the German shepherd’s owners had agreed to pay the veterinary bills.

Dog left outside : 13100 block, Dairymaid Dr., Germantown, July 22. Animal services was notified that a man was leaving his mixed-breed dog outside for hours tied to the doorknob of his apartment. The dog owner told animal services officers that he was doing this so his neighbor’s 2-year-old daughter could play with the dog. Officers told him not to tether his pet that way. They also advised against allowing a child to play with the dog unattended. The dog owner lightheartedly asked one of the officers, “If I could ‘find a wife,’ could she care for the dog?” The officer said yes, but as long as the wife agreed to be responsible for the dog. The man told the officer he would consider getting a wife.
