Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival. Eight hours of live music and water-related activities, plus food and beverages from neighborhood vendors. 1-9 p.m. 600 to 900 Water Street SW. Fireworks at 8:30 p.m. on the Washington Channel. Metro: Waterfront. Produced by Hoffman-Madison Waterfront and the Washington Waterfront Association. Presented by Safeway and the Washington Examiner.

15th Annual Cherry Blossom Freedom Walk. Short, noncompetitive walk and program to celebrate the Japanese American spirit of patriotism and perseverance during World War II. 9 a.m. - noon. National Japanese American Memorial, intersection of D Street and New Jersey and Louisiana avenues NW. Metro: Union Station.

Asian Art and Culture Day at the Workhouse. Origami workshops and film, traditional costume display, horticulture, brush-painting demonstrations, ­cherry-
tree planting and other cultural activities. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton.
