The D.C. fire department said Friday that contrary to reports on a Washington television station, it is not considering disciplinary action against uniformed personnel who appeared recently with President Obama.
D.C. firefighters along with other first responders appeared Tuesday with the president as he warned of the possible adverse effects of budget sequestration.
In a statement issued Friday night, a spokesman for the fire department said the department is reviewing internal protocols for such appearances. Spokesman Lon Walls said the purpose was to ensure that the department and employees were fully informed.
The department gave full support to the president’s efforts to bring attention to the essential, life-saving work done each day by its first responders, the statement said, adding that department officials “welcome his invitation for our members to participate.”
