Betsy Jones, 73, an Arlington resident who was active in scouting and church activities, died March 19 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. She had cancer.

Mrs. Jones was a Girl Scout leader for more than 30 years and a member of Cherrydale United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. She did volunteer work at the church and was active in charitable organizations.

Elizabeth Torreson was born in Washington and raised in Bethesda. She was a 1955 graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and a 1959 graduate of Marietta College in Ohio.

Her hobbies included painting.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Sherfy Jones of Arlington; three children, Sharon Bomgardner of McLean and Kevin Jones and Jenny Holsinger, both of Arlington; and eight grandchildren.
