Anna Medlen, math teacher

Anna Medlen, 72, a math teacher at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington County from 1967 to 2000, died Nov.  21 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.

She had lung and brain cancer, said her daughter, Wendy Medlen.

Mrs. Medlen was a member of the Arlington Retired Teachers Association and had served for the past several years as the group’s treasurer.

Anna Louise Pickering was born in Mustang, Okla.

She was a 1961 graduate of what is now the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, where she studied mathematics.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Wendell H. Medlen of Arlington; and a daughter, Wendy Medlen of Stafford.
