Carol Cladouhos, 78, the development director of the National Women’s Political Caucus in the late 1970s and early 1980s, died Oct. 1 at her home in Washington.

She had breast cancer, said her son, W. Peter Cladouhos.

Mrs. Cladouhos volunteered for the women’s political organization before taking the full-time job. She was a past vice president of the Spring Valley Courtyard Association, a neighborhood group in the District, and a member of the Washington Wellesley Club, a college alumni organization.

Carol Philippa Poulleys was born in Boston and raised in Lexington, Mass. She attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and was a 1956 graduate of George Washington University.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harry W. Cladouhos of Washington; two children, Charis Cladouhos of Waban, Mass., and W. Peter Cladouhos of Bethesda; two sisters, Phyllis Houvouras of Lexington, Mass., and Tina Dickerson of Leesburg; and three grandchildren.
