Charles E. Wilson Jr., 70, who was a senior partner of the Rockville law firm McCarthy Wilson, died Oct. 27 at a hospital in Augusta, Ga. He had cancer.
The death was confirmed by his daughter Kristin Raker.
Mr. Wilson, who specialized in insurance litigation, joined in 1969 what was then the Rockville law firm of McCarthy and Wharton. He retired in 2007 and moved to Aiken, S.C., from Rockville.
Charles Elliott Wilson Jr. was born in Washington and raised in Chevy Chase. He was a 1959 graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, a 1963 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and a 1966 graduate of George Washington University law school.
He was a past president of the Montgomery County Bar Association, which named him lawyer of the year in 1991. He was elected as a fellow to the American College of Trial Lawyers.
His first marriage, to Sandra Schatz, ended in divorce. Weeks before his death, he married his companion, Carolyn Marcucilli.
Besides his wife, of Aiken, survivors include three children from his first marriage, Charles E. Wilson III of Adamstown, Kristin Raker of Derwood and Dr. Laura Crim of Carlisle, Pa.; two sisters; and eight grandchildren.
