Elizabeth A. Burner, 97, an Alexandria homemaker who did volunteer work through Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, died Nov. 30 at the Greenspring retirement community in Springfield.

She had respiratory failure, said her daughter Donna Spitzer.

Elizabeth Agnes Wingfield was born in Lexington, Va., and grew up in Winchester. She lived in Alexandria for nearly five decades before moving to Greenspring in 2006.

Her husband of 62 years, C. Robert Burner, died in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hunt of Atlanta and Donna Spitzer of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
