Elizabeth M. Caltabiano, 93, a government secretary who retired in the mid-1970s from the National Institutes of Health, died March 27 at her home in Silver Spring.
The cause was complications from pneumonia, said her daughter-in-law, JoEllen Caltabiano.
Elizabeth Lena Mott was a native Washingtonian and a 1938 graduate of the old Notre Dame Academy in the District. She was a Defense Department secretary as a young woman.
She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Church in Wheaton.
Her husband, Salvatore Caltabiano, whom she married in 1947, died in 1992. Survivors include a son, Michael Caltabiano of Silver Spring; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
