Ellen Dapper, homemaker

Ellen Dapper, 82, a Northern Virginia homemaker since settling in the area in 1956, died Aug. 9 at her home in McLean. She had cancer.

The death was confirmed by her husband, William H. Dapper, a retired Labor Department administrative law judge who is her only immediate survivor.

Ellen Spaulding Grout was born in Brattleboro, Vt., and raised in Lancaster, Mass. She was a 1953 graduate of Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., and briefly taught elementary school in Marion, Mass.
