Floyd O. Wyatt, 72, a Fairfax County police lieutenant who later became a General District Court magistrate in the county, died Dec. 21 at a hospital in Hollywood, Fla. He was a Vienna resident and was visiting family when he died.

He had Alzheimer’s disease, said his son Randall Wyatt.

Mr. Wyatt served with the Fairfax County police force from 1964 to 1987. He then was a magistrate until retiring in 2002.

Floyd Otto Wyatt was born in Casper, Wyo. He served in the Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964 and then moved to Fairfax.

His memberships included the Jamestowne Society, a genealogical organization.

His first marriage, to Karen Choquette, ended in divorce. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Patricia Merritt Wyatt of Vienna; four children from his first marriage, Ann Dowden and Randall Wyatt, both of Hamilton, Va., Alan Wyatt of Colonial Heights, Va., and Sandra Hodges of Beijing; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
