Jeanne M. Stemple, 83, who was a hospital volunteer in Arlington County, died March 9 at the Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted-living facility in McLean.
She had complications from back surgery, said a daughter, Linda Cagle.
Jeanne Marie Howard was born in Trenton, N.J. She accompanied her husband on his Marine Corps assignments before settling in Arlington in the mid-1960s.
Mrs. Stemple was a volunteer at what is now the Virginia Hospital Center and was a member of the Marine Officers’ Spouses’ Club.
She moved from Arlington to McLean in 2010.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, retired Marine Col. James Stemple of McLean; two daughters, Linda Cagle of Anchorage and Cynthia Fox of Reno, Nev.; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
