Karen M. Marcey, 56, who retired in 2003 as a financial administrator with the government contractor Science Applications International Corp., died Feb. 8 at the Burnett-Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick.
She had Huntington’s disease, said her sister, Sue White.
Ms. Marcey had done financial work for SAIC since 1996. She previously worked for organizations including Northern Telecom.
Karen Marie Marcey was an Arlington native and a 1974 graduate of Wakefield High School. She received an associate’s degree in accounting from Northern Virginia Community College in 1990 and a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Averett University in Danville, Va., in 1993.
Ms. Marcy lived in Fairfax County until moving to North Beach, Md., in 2005. She was a volunteer Girl Scouts leader and participated in activities at the Northern Virginia Training Center, a support organization for persons with disabilities.
Her marriage to Curt Baker ended in divorce. Survivors include her mother, Anne Souder of Prince Frederick; a sister, Sue White of Northfield, Vt.; and two brothers, Richard C. Marcey Jr. of North Beach and Robert S. Marcey of Rocky Mount, Va.
