Karin M. Hampton, South Lakes High janitor

Karin M. Hampton, who did janitorial work at South Lakes High School in Reston, Va., from 1988 until her retirement in 1991, died Sept. 16 at Reston Hospital Center. She was 67.

The cause was a heart attack, said her daughter, Natascha Hampton.

Mrs. Hampton, a resident of Herndon, Va., did janitorial work for about a decade in Reston before joining South Lakes High School’s staff in 1988.

Karin Marianne Schleiter was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and settled in the United States in 1975. She became a U.S. citizen in 1983.

She did volunteer work at the YMCA and was a member of Martin Luther King Jr. Christian Church, both in Reston.

Her husband of eight years, Wallace Hampton, died in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Natascha Hampton of Leesburg, Va., and Michelle Reveron of Reston; and seven grandchildren.
