Lillian G. Sutton, a secretary for 35 years at what is now the Naval Surface Warfare Center at White Oak, Md., died Oct. 23 at Montgomery Hospice’s Casey House in Rockville. She was 89.
The cause was complications from a broken hip, said her daughter in-law Catherine Sutton.
Lillian Grace McCarrell was born in Knoxville, Tenn. Soon after she finishing high school, she moved to the Washington area and began her secretarial career at the Washington Navy Yard. In 1944, she joined the old Naval Ordnance Laboratory in White Oak.
