Margaret Fredericksen, 83, a past president of a military wives’ investment club and a member of the Springfield Golf and Country Club, died Jan. 31 at Inova Fairfax Hospital of an intestinal infection. She was a Springfield resident.
Her husband, Donald Fredericksen, confirmed the death.
Margaret Patricia Ward, who was known as Peggy, was born in Philadelphia and spent her teen years in Long Beach, Calif. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1951. She briefly taught elementary school in California before moving to Washington in 1968.
She was a member of the social fraternity Alpha Phi and received the group’s Michaelanean award in 1986 for her alumni work and fundraising efforts.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Donald Fredericksen of Springfield; a son, Michael Fredericksen of San Diego; and three grandchildren.
