Margaret S. Fuchs, a volunteer worker at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Silver Spring and at its parish school, died June 3 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She was 92.

The cause was pneumonia, said a daughter, Marjorie Hanson.

Margaret Mary Sandberg was born in Brooklyn. She moved to the Washington area in 1947. Besides the church in Silver Spring, she volunteered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington and at Braille reading services for the visually disabled.

She lived in Silver Spring from 1951 until moving to McLean in 2010.

Her husband of 34 years, Edmund F. Fuchs, died in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Hanson of McLean and Joan Youngman of Cambridge, Mass.
