Mary K. Fleming, 91, a nurse who worked at Georgetown University Hospital and later for the American Red Cross, died May 4 at her home in Fairfax County.
She had complications from diabetes, said her nephew John Korfonta.
Mrs. Fleming worked at Georgetown’s hospital for about 15 years, beginning in the late 1950s. She retired in the mid-1980s after working for the Red Cross for about a decade. She was a staff nurse at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.
Mary Margaret Korfonta was a native of Starford, Pa., and a 1943 nursing graduate of Georgetown University.
She was a past secretary and member of the board of governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association. Her memberships included the Greater McLean Republican Women’s Club and St. John Catholic Church in McLean.
Her husband of 15 years, James E. Fleming, died in 1974. She had no immediate survivors.
