Mary L. Frechtling, a saleswoman who worked with the Beauty Counselors cosmetics company for nearly four decades until her retirement in 1995, died Sept. 9 at her home in Bethesda. She was 98.
The cause was coronary atherosclerosis, said her son Doug Frechtling.
Mary Louise Porch was a native of Littleton, Colo., and a 1937 biology graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She then was a research laboratory technician at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute, associated with the Johns Hopkins medical institution in Baltimore.
She settled in the Washington area in 1942 and was a longtime Bethesda resident.
Her husband of 60 years, Louis E. Frechtling, died in 2000. Survivors include two children, Doug Frechtling of Bethesda and Susan Stewart of Cabin John, Md.; a sister; a grandson; and three great-grandsons.
