Maybelle C. Ney, 91, who accompanied her husband on Navy assignments around the country and in Bermuda, died Oct. 31 at the Virginian, an assisted living facility in Fairfax City.
She had pneumonia, said her son, R. Terrence Ney.
Maybelle Carriere was born in Paia, on the Hawaiian island of Maui. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hawaii in 1943. She had made her permanent home in Arlington since 1966.
Her hobbies included golfing, traveling and collecting antiques.
Her husband of 65 years, retired Navy Capt. Robert J. Ney, died in 2008. Survivors include two children, Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge R. Terrence Ney of Vienna and Philomont, and Nancy C. Hansen of Simonton, Tex.; a granddaughter; and four great-granddaughters.
