Mildred B. Sharpe dies at 92; federal administrative assistant

Mildred B. Sharpe, who worked for the federal government for more than two decades as an administrative assistant, died Feb. 21 at a hospital in Vancouver, Wash. She was 92.

The cause was congestive heart failure, said her son Barry L. Sharpe.

Mrs. Sharpe spent much of her career working for the Federal Aviation Administration at Dulles International Airport, where she retired in the late 1980s. She moved to Washington state from Falls Church in 2008.

Mildred Louise Bolen was born in Arlington County, Va., and graduated in 1939 from Washington-Lee High School.

Her husband of 38 years, Sidney L. Sharpe, died in 1980. Her son Sidney “Tom” Sharpe died in 2011, and her son Michael W. Sharpe died in 2012.

Survivors include her son Barry L. Sharpe of Vancouver; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
